Important details for this Jordan camel trekking journey
The itinerary covers 9 days and 8 nights: Amman, Jerash, Madaba, Mt Nebo, the Dead Sea, Petra, Wadi Rum, Aqaba and return to Amman.
Overnights are in Amman for two nights, Petra for two nights, two wild-camping nights in Wadi Rum, Aqaba for one night and Amman for the final night.
Day 1: None. Days 2-4: Breakfast. Day 5: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Days 6-7: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch and Dinner. Days 8-9: Breakfast.
A local guide accompanies the Petra visit for around two hours. Afterwards there is free time to explore independently, including the chance for those who wish to climb around 800 stairs to the Monastery El Deir.
The camel trek begins in Wadi Rum Village and includes Lawrence's Spring, Wadi Um Ishrin, the sand dune area, Anfashiyeh inscriptions, Um Rashid Canyon and Lawrence's House.
For the first bivouac night, the itinerary states that tents, mattresses and blankets are provided. Dinner is cooked over the fire.
Continue toward Burdah Rock Bridge and Um Frouth Rock Bridge. The itinerary allows about 15 minutes to scramble to the top of Um Frouth.
Trek through Kashkasheh Canyon to Um Sabatah and see Cow Rock, also identified by some as Chicken Rock, before driving about one hour to Aqaba.
After a free morning in Aqaba, the drive along the Desert Highway to Amman takes about four hours.
