Perché Naqada è importante nella storia egizia?
Naqada is one of the most important places for understanding the formation of ancient Egypt. Archaeologists use its name for the Naqada Culture, spanning roughly 4400–3000 BCE, when increasingly complex communities, trade, craft production, early writing and political authority helped lay foundations for the pharaonic state.
Ancient Naqada was called Nubt, linked with gold and desert trade routes. Its wider heritage also includes the Tomba Reale di Naqada, the cult center of the god Set, historic Coptic monasteries and traditional hand-loom Ferkeh textiles.
