Understand the difference between the plateau ticket and pyramid-interior tickets, what each option includes and which entrance is worth adding.

Your basic ticket gives access to the archaeological plateau and its principal outdoor monuments, including views of the Pyramids of Giza and Great Sphinx. It does not automatically include entry inside Khufu, Khafre or Menkaure.

Price warning: prices, opening hours and which interiors are available can change without notice. The figures below were checked against official Ministry pages in July 2026; verify again when booking.

What the plateau ticket includes

  • Access to the Giza archaeological area.
  • Outdoor viewing of the three principal pyramids.
  • Designated visitor viewpoints and the Sphinx visitor zone.
  • Accessible outdoor sections of the wider funerary landscape.

It does not include the Great Pyramid interior, other separately ticketed pyramid interiors, Meresankh III’s tomb or the Workers’ Cemetery.

Which pyramid should you enter?

Great Pyramid of Khufu at Giza

Khufu

Choose it for the iconic experience, the Grand Gallery and King’s Chamber—not for decoration or treasures.

Khafre and Menkaure pyramids at Giza

Khafre or Menkaure

When open, a smaller pyramid can offer the enclosed-passage experience at a lower price and with less time.

Mastaba tombs in Giza cemetery

Decorated tomb

If wall scenes matter more than narrow passages, a separately ticketed decorated tomb may be more rewarding.

What is it like inside?

Expect narrow, steep and sometimes warm passages, low ceilings and limited space. There are no piles of treasure. The appeal is architectural and emotional: standing inside a monument built more than 4,500 years ago.

Skip the interior if you have significant claustrophobia, serious mobility limitations, heart or respiratory concerns, or difficulty using steep enclosed passages.

How to buy tickets

  1. Check current prices and availability on the official Egyptian monuments ticket channel.
  2. Select the Giza Plateau admission.
  3. Add the exact interior or tomb you want.
  4. Keep the QR code or ticket easy to reach and retain it throughout the visit.
  5. Bring valid student identification if using a student ticket.

Practical tips

  • Arrive early because interior capacity can be limited.
  • Do not buy unofficial “entrance tickets” from individuals outside authorized channels.
  • Use a small bag; bulky equipment is awkward in narrow passages.
  • Confirm photography rules before entering each monument.
  • Allow two to four hours for the plateau, more if adding interiors and tombs.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Giza ticket include the Great Pyramid?

It includes the plateau, but entry inside the Great Pyramid requires a separate ticket.

Can tickets sell out?

Interior access can be capacity-controlled, so early booking or arrival is sensible.

Are student discounts available?

Official listings show student rates. Carry valid identification and check eligibility rules.

Can children enter?

Entry rules may allow children, but parents should assess narrow, steep and warm passages carefully.

Is entering a pyramid worth it?

Yes for architecture and atmosphere. Choose a decorated tomb instead if you expect reliefs, paintings or objects.
