Quick Travel Answer
What makes the Great Sand Sea worth visiting?
The Great Sand Sea is one of Egypt’s most dramatic Western Desert landscapes: an immense field of wind-shaped dunes stretching south of Siwa, with long parallel ridges, steep slip-faces and open desert corridors.
For most visitors, the strongest first experience is a licensed 4x4 safari from Siwa that combines dune bashing, sandboarding, Bir Wahed’s hot spring and cold lake, sunset and a short Bedouin-style campfire stop.
