Quick Travel Answer
Why is Sakha important on the Holy Family Trail?
According to Coptic tradition, the Holy Family rested at Sakha during its journey across the Nile Delta. The Christ Child is said to have left the imprint of His foot on a stone, while a spring of fresh water appeared. This tradition gave the town the Coptic name Bikha Isos, meaning “The Foot of Jesus.”
Allow about 1 to 2 hours for the Footprint Stone reliquary, ancient baptismal font, church interior and antiquities collection. Sakha combines naturally with Samanoud, Tell Basta and Wadi El Natrun.
