What is Medinet Madi?
Medinet Madi is an ancient desert settlement southwest of Fayoum, known in antiquity as Dja and later Narmouthis. Amenemhat III and Amenemhat IV established its compact temple in the 12th Dynasty.
Its importance lies in the unusually intact Middle Kingdom sanctuary and the visible layers added by Ptolemaic rulers, Roman administrators and early Christian communities.
