Quick Travel Answer
Are the Abu Simbel Temples worth visiting?
Yes. Abu Simbel combines monumental New Kingdom architecture, four colossal images of Ramses II, the unusually prominent Temple of Queen Nefertari, the famous solar alignment and one of the greatest archaeological rescue projects of the twentieth century.
For most travelers, the best approach is to use Aswan as the base, leave very early, allow roughly two to three hours at the site, visit both temples, and keep the rest of the day realistic because of the long road journey.
