Quick Travel Answer
Is the Egyptian Museum in Cairo still worth visiting?
Yes. The historic Egyptian Museum in Tahrir remains one of Cairo’s most important museum experiences. Its strengths are the atmosphere of the 1902 building, dense pharaonic collections, royal sculpture, coffins, papyri, jewelry and objects that let you compare many periods of ancient Egyptian history in one place.
For most first-time visitors, allow about two to three hours and use a story-led route. Then continue to GEM, the Pyramids of Giza, Coptic Cairo or the Citadel and Muhammad Ali Mosque according to your day.
